What is the difference between racism, discrimination and prejudice?
What examples, besides those found during the Holocaust, can you cite?

You must begin your paragraph with one of the sentences from the sentence variety sheet you were given in class. If you don't have the sheet or have lost it, you can click on sentence variety sheet.  If it doesn't open up, there is also a copy of the sheet under Class Documents on the left.  At the end of your paragraph tell which type of sentence you used to begin your paragraph.

Advanced Language Arts-Along with chosing a sentence from the sentence variety sheet to start your paragraph, you also need to use a quotations in sentence (number 14 on the handout) to end your paragraph.  There are many great quotes that will help to drive your point home.

These three words are very close in definition; however they're they are different. Racism is a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others. Prejudice is an unfavorable opinion or feeling formed beforehand or without knowledge, thought, or reason. Discrimination is . treatment or consideration of, or making a distinction in favor of or against, a person or thing based on the group, class, or category to which that person or thing belongs rather than on individual merit: racial and religious intolerance and discrimination. These definitions are easy to get mixed up. Although they are close in definition they are different. These three words are all words that can be used to discribe lives of the Jewish.

There were many people in Holocaust that were trying to help the Jewish escape Hitler’s wrath, but some did do racism, discrimination, and or prejudice. Racism is where one race thinks their race is better than another race. Discrimination is where one group of people wrongly treats a person or group. Prejudice is a belief or prejudgment of another race. Hitler discriminated against the Jewish. Hitler was very prejudice for some reasons we don’t know. There were many people who weren’t racist, discriminative, or prejudice. "Our many Jewish friends and acquaintances are being taken away in droves. The Gestapo is treating them very roughly and transporting them in cattle cars to Westerbork, the big camp in Drenthe to which they're sending all the Jews....If it's that bad in Holland, what must it be like in those faraway and uncivilized places where the Germans are sending them? We assume that most of them are being murdered. The English radio says they're being gassed." - Anne Frank (http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/holocaust-quotations.html). That shows prejudice. I used And, But, So, and or sentences.

The United States has come a long way in providing equality for all citizens; however, racism, prejudices and discrimination still exist even in our country. My sister attends a private school. Although there are students there from all over the world the population is still mainly white. I have noticed the people of color do not get treated equally. For example, my sister’s volleyball coach did not let my sister play just because of her color. Also most of my teachers are white I only have one colored teacher. So racism is when people don’t like other people because of their ethnicity. Prejudice means people don’t like other people because they are different from each other. Discrimination is to point out the differents in some one.

Hello Purple Team Kiddos,

I realize that the blog was closed yesterday so nobody was able to post. I will extend the posting deadline by one day to accommodate the loss of time.

Also, remember to read ALL the directions carefully so you answer all parts to the question. Always cite your sources or it is considered plagiarism.

Don't forget to tell what type of sentence you used to start your paragraph at the bottom of your post :)

Hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend!

In the time of the Holocaust, racism, discrimination and prejudice was a big deal that was used. The diffrence between racism, dicrimination and prejudice is that. Racism is intolerance of another race. Dicrimination is an act. prejudice is an unfavorible opinion. Discrimination was really a big part of he Holocaust. Hitler discriminated the Jews by just guessing the were like bad people. Hitler also charicterized the jews. Hitler thought since a jew got a scholar ship over him they wer evil.

All American citizens should vote. Their votes impact all three
branches of our federal government. Since hitler was the dictater of everyones lives nobody could do anything about it. He had giant armys that probley killed hundreds of people everyday. Hitler was very racist against what he thought was not the perfect race. Hitler was racist against anyone who was not wight, and didn't have blond hair and blue eyes. If they didnt have blond hair and blue eyes he would kill them. I think yhat Hitler was a tiny bit isane if you ask me. If i was hitler i would i wouldn't6 be killing and obssesing over the perfect race when Dont even have blond hair and blue eyes. Since he cilled all the people with brown hair and blue eyes why didn't he kill himself. Why did hitler pick blue eyes and blond hair, an not brown hair and brown eyes since he had that color hair and eyes. Hitler is a puzzle that is kindof hard to put together.

These heartfounded words are some of the many reasons this great counrty was the way it was some years ago:however they are different in definition. Racism is a beleif or dictorine that inherit difference among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others. Discrimination is a treatment or consideration of, or making a distinction in favor of or against, a person or thing based on the group, class or category to which that person or thing belongs rather than on individual merit. Racial and religious intolerance and discrimination. Prejudice is an unfavorable or feeling formed beforehand or without knowledge, thought, or reason. Look at the racist times of when the Civial Rights Movement started to happen. Colored races stareted to say, "You know what we are better than this. We can make a difference in this cold blooded world." I mean colored people had to watch where they were going at all times. Not knowing if they were going to get beat up, not knowing if they would get a death threat, and not knowing if their house was going to get bombed while they were at work. Blacks and colors were discriminated from most of the White people's eyes.Marti Luther King Jr. sayed thus quote, "A man who won't die for something is not fit to live."

These three words may sound completely different, but how different are they really. Here are some definitions I found on dictionary.com. Racism: a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others. Discrimination: an act or instance of discriminating. Prejudice: an unfavorable opinion or feeling formed beforehand or without knowledge, thought, or reason. Examples in which these few words are found are like when we enslaved African Americans, or when the Spaniards came to the new land and killed a lot of Indians. One quote from quote garden.com states that “How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.” ~Anne Frank

Racism, discrimination, and predudice are almost the same thing because all of those words are hating on a different race. Racism is hatred on someone else by someone. Discrimination is diffrence against someone part of a diffrent group. Prejudice is a racial act. Racial statements would be like hurting a diffrent color but leaving the white person safe. Making fun of a black person but hanging out with a non black person lie nothing happened. These words make many people sad. I can cite that prejudice, discrimination, and racism need to stop.

racism is where you are aginst one race. So if you are rasist you hate or discrianate aginst any kind of race. A example is say you are a amarican but you hate all the people that are mexican then that is racism. discrimination is where you discrimanate someone because of something they did or because you dont like them. An exampale is if you compleatly hate this guy because he got the last food somewhere, so that is discrimanating aginst them. Last is prejudice. Prejudice is where you hate someone because something that other people might like. So an example is if you hate the baseball the the new york mets that means the person hates everyone who likes the mets. So that is prejudice, discrimination, and rtacism.

Rasism is when you hate someones color.Youhate eveything they do.And also you hate every thin invented by them.Thats racism.prejudice is when you judgesomeone before nowing them.Likewhen you see a guy that is a nerd or something.People think they are dumb or boring. But they could be realy cool. to know possibly.

Racism is kinda like prejudice. But prejudice is something that has to do with what someone does.Racism is like being racist to everything.Racism and prejudice combined i think makes discrimination. My prejudice example is "White people used to hate the color brown or black on peoples skins".My racism example is "Some peoples hates african american peoples".Discrimination i don't know what it means i just think that it means something that has to do with color or skin. This is what i think these words mean and howe they are alike.

These three words are very similar in many ways. Racism, Discrimination and prejudice mean that someone does not like another person for their skin eyes hair beliefs and more. Racism is when someone does not like another person for their race, such as their skin color or beliefs. Discrimination is where someone does not like. Prejudice is someone judging you by looks such as hair eyes clothes… ect. Prejudice has PRE and JUD so PREJUDGE you PREJUDGE some one before getting to know them. One of my BEST FRIENDS prejudged me but we are friends now. I used a number (power) statement.

Discrimination- Where you are excluded or you are included but treated unfairly.
Can be determined on anything, race, religion, gender, anything.
Prejudice- Were you convince someone to do something befor they even know him.(or her) I think it is kind of like peer pressure .
Racism- Racism is were you make fun of someones skin color.
Discrimination, prejudice, and racism is different because when you make fun of someone color of their skin is being racist. It is different then pejudice and discrimination because prejudice is making a person do something, not necessarily bad, before they even know you and discrimination is when you exclude or include them and treat them unfairly. In my opinion Discrimination and racism can be simular because you could exclude someone by their color of their skin. These three words can relate to you if you do anything that relates to the description I just gave you. ( I forgot my sentence variety sheet but I used the sentence that has a number in them.)

These three understanding words give words and memories of the Holocaust; however they can be very different. Racism means a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and that racial differences produce an inherent of a particular race. This is like Hitler only liking people with a certain culture, blonde hair, blue eyes, and etc. Discrimination is the power of finely distinguishing. In the holocaust, this could be recognized as Hitler ruling Jewish accountings. Prejudice means injury or damage resulting form judgment. This word could be used when a Nazi would say something really mean and overruling to a Jew. Just like a gut named Benjamin Netanyahu once said, “No one yet knows what awaits the Jews in the twenty- first century, but we must make every effort to ensure than what befell them in the twentieth, the century of the Holocaust.”

These 3 words, racism, prejudice, and descrimination may sound alike, but many people don’t know the individual differences between them. I researched and found definitons at http://www.dictonary.referance.com. Racism is comman word in the english language. The website defines racism as hatred or intolerance of another race or races. Prejudice has a completely different meaning. Prejudice is any unreasonable feeling, opinion, or attitude. Descriminaton differs from both these words. Descrimination is to make a contitute or distinction in or between. To begin my blog, I used the AND, BUT, and OR sentence.

amarez3

These three words are actually pretty similar to each other, but they are also different in many ways. Racism is the hatred of someone because of their race, skin, and language. However, discrimination is the hatred of a particular group. This was often used when the KKK started, and when they were treating the African-Americans badly. Last but not least, there is the word prejudice. Prejudice is a judgment of someone because of their age, race, and many more.

These three words are a little similar between eachother. Some people may not see or hear the difference between racism, prejudice, and discrimination. Racism has existed throughout human history. It is like the color of that person, but we really do not call them their real color. I am not trying to be mean but we call black people African Americans. Descrimination and Prejudice are words that are negative to others. They hold people back (apart from each other).

The difference between racism, discrimination and prejudice will be below. First of all, racism is when one color of skin doesn't like another. For example, when Martin Luther King Jr. was alive he had to live in a racist enviroment but he changed all of that. Second of all, discrimination is the way you treat somebody. For a example Rosa Parks was treated so unfair because she was tired and she sat in the quickest seat she could and when a white guy walked on the bus he said get up ;However she refused. Third and last of all, prejudice is what you think of somebody. A example of prejudice is if I think somebody is mental don't go around telling everybody that they are stupid just keep it to yourself you might build a bad reputation.I just told you the difference's of racism, discrimination ,and prejudice

matthewvera
1/24/2011 06:03:38 am

All of these words have terrible definesions, so there is no differance because all are so terrible, but here are the differances between what they meen.Prejudice and racism are very alike because both are juding people by their appearance. Racism is allways looking at the differances between races and sometimes religion. Prejudice is the fist time someone meets someone else and juding before you get to know them. For example, Christopher Columbus was one of the first European to discover the new world. Once he got there they discovered natives. The Europeans almost instanly put the natives under slavery because their apperance was differant. But discrimination is treating people unfairly like how white people in the 1900-1960 were getting paid more than the blacks either though both were doing the same amount of work.

PoitrasB1
1/24/2011 06:06:27 am

Racism, Discrimination and Prejudice may sound completely different but are they really? The answer to this problem is No. Racism is the belief in asserting racial differences in character, intelligence, etc and how there is one superior race against all others. So for example if there are 2 people 1 Jewish and 1 Christian and the teacher walks up and say”So you’re both finished with your scantron? And the kids say yes we are. So the teacher says “Ok and he sends the Christian kid to lunch and makes the Jewish kid do 100 pushups”. Discrimination is the act to distinguish or discriminate differences. So to really hold something against someone for being different for you. So if you’re a Discriminator and see someone of a different color you would find a way to make fun of them for it. Prejudice is a judgment or opinion formed before the facts that contradict it or unreasonable bias. So if someone made up some rumor about a random culture or race with no details supporting it. For example if someone hated Jews and started making rumors about them with no knowledge of their culture or background that would be Prejudice. So Racism, Prejudice, and Discrimination are really bundled up into the same category and but in different ways.

These 3 topics can be bad. To be prejidice is what you think of somebody. If You were walking down the street and someone didnt like u when they dont even know you, how would youy feel, Knowing that that random person doesnt like you, you might be kinda scared. You wouldnt know if they were gonna kill you just because of 1st im- pression. To have discrimination aginst someone is to bo like yOU HAVE Somthing aginst them just because you dont like their skin color or religion. If you were just hangin out somewhere and someone saw you and didnt like your skin color, that would be wrong. Racism is to be rasist just beacuse you dont like their skin color. Like Hitler, HE was racist. ****I used the number statement!****

Racism is when someone doesn't like the way there skin color is and if your in the way of the Nazis. Racism, discrimination, and/or prejudice are three not very kind things at all. Well racism is when you don't like someone because of a difference that they have. For example, if someone is Chinese, someone else could say they're "evil". Discrimination/prejudice is when you say you don't like someone before you get to know them. For example if you see someone walking down the street and you don't even know them, and you say they look mean. They might actually be very nice. It's not very kind to think this way but some people do it any way. People get hurt because of racism too.

What is the difference between racism, discrimination, and prejudice? Racism is hatred or intolerance of another race or other races. An example would be a church for only white people. Discrimination is something that serves to differentiate. An example of this would be to make fun of or bully a kid because they are different. Prejudice is an unfavorable opinion or feeling formed beforehand or without knowledge, thought, or reason. An example would be to treat someone with more respect because they are white. When Martin Luther King JR said "I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality.... I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word." he was protesting to the injustice that is racism, discrimination ,and prejudice.

The words racism, and prejudice, and discrimination are really powerful words around the world; however these words around the world can be used like billions, or trillions but these words are different in there meanings. Racism description is a thought or belief that one race is better than the other one. So an example is that someone can say Whites are better than Mexicans. The word prejudice meaning is a biased opinion based on emotion rather than reason; bias against a group, race, or creed. Then this example is that you don’t like that race. So you stay away from them like you don’t even sit with them, and you talk about them in a wrong way. The last word to describe is discrimination. This meaning is to distinguish or differentiate between someone and something on the basis of race, sex, class, or religion. This example can be used like this. When a person is applying for a job the person hiring that person can not hire a person because of there color, sex or there culture. So these words are different in there description and by there example. (The words description came from the dictionary of Webster’s dictionary.)

These three words prejudice, racism, and descrimination might sound like the same words, however, they all have their own meaning. I found these definitions at WWW.dictionary.reference.com Prejudice means an unfavorable opinion or statement and judgement. An example of prejudice is when Martin Luther King Jr. got shot because of the color of his skin and his statements about the equality between the black and the white people. Racism means the idea that one's own race is superior to others. An example of racism is when members of the KKK (Ku Klux Klan) burn crosses in black peoples' yards as a threat. Discrimination is the last word and it means choosing one over another because of their race, religion or sex. An example of discrimination is a boss choosing a man over a women because of the stereo type of the job requirements. A quote from QuoteGarden.com that spoke to me was: "Give to every human being every right that you claim for yourself."~Robert Ingersoll

Racism prejudices, and discrimination may seem to have the same meaning but they don’t. Racism is abusive or aggressive behavior towards another race thinking you’re race is more suppior to the other race and can control them. Discrimination is treatment or consideration of, or making a distinction in favor of or against, a person or thing based on the group, class, or category to which that person or thing belongs rather than on individual. Prejudice is unreasonable feelings, opinions, or attitudes, of a hostile nature, regarding a racial, religious, or national group. Not only was the racism used in the holocaust but it dates back to the years of 1700’s to 1900’s when the whites thought they could rule over the blacks. Though it was hard for the people in the holocaust especially for the Jews, they had to go in hiding or they would be taken to concentration camps. The Jews could have even been killed on sight if they weren’t careful. The night of broken glass is a huge example of prejudice, more than 30,000 Jews were taken to concentration camps that night and the way they were taken was not what you would call nice. Talk about racism, the holocaust is a great example, and all the things Hitler did DEFINES those three words.

Some people say racism is a belief that inherets differences between human races. Some people beleive discrimination to be a treatment against "different" people. Other people think of prejudice as an opinion about someone, when you have no idea of anything about them! But what do these really mean? Hitler has caused every one of these ideas. He let people suffer because they weren't perfect. He let millions of people die because they didn't meet Hitler's standards, but did Hitler meet his own? The cruelty he brought to thousands upon thousands. Racism, discrimination, prejudice;Hitler. He was a cruel man, with no right to do his terrifying experiments. Martin Luther King Jr once said,"Darkness cannot drive out darkness;only light can do that.Hate cannot drive out hate;only love can do that"......

Well other than the Holocaust.I have nocticed something more about Martin Luther King Jr.Back then before Martin Luther King Jr blacks and other colors used to get spit on or they would have to sit in the back of the bus!But now nothing like that happens. However back then a woman named Rosie Parks. She just came from work, she was tired so she sat in front the bus.But when a white womaen said get out of the front and go sit back there. However most of the blacks would get up.She didnt said i'm tired. Then they called the police. So thats what i think racisum is.Dirmination is like racism to me.Prejudce is when someone treats aother badly.

These three words racsim,Discrimination, and prejudice sound completely different but really how different do tehy sound. Here are some defintions I found on dictionary.com.Discrimination: is an unfair treatment of a person, racial group minority ect; action is based on prejudice.Racsim: a bielf or dodtrive that inheriets differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievment usually involoving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others. Predjucie:unfavorable opinion or feeling found beforehand or without knowledege, toought or reason. An exmaple for rascim is: Mexicans are better than Whites. An example for descrimination is: mi brother's basketball coahc didn't let him play in the begining ofthe game because of his color. An example of prejudice is: if someones is walking in a seculued are in the night, and a group of senior citizens who are walking with canes in hand, come from the oppiste side, the person might not feel threatened. However, if instead of senior citizens three tennagers dressed in jeans with t-shirts and with gold chains around their necks approach them from the other side: then they might feel a little threatened.

The difference between racism, discrimination, and prejudice is they have very little difference, just different perceptions. Racism is when someone judges you by your race. Discrimination means to be biased to you because of your hair, that you get good grades, and by how you look. Prejudice is when someone judges you before they get to know you. Each definition can be is very much alike so it’s hard to know how they are judging you. This was shown in the Civil rights Movement. People judged the Negro people before we got to know who they were. People discriminated against them by the color of their skin and how they looked. It was not right for people to be prejudice against them at first sight. That’s why Martin Luther King Jr. gave his, “I have a dream” speech to let people know how his people felt. They have dreams just like we do and no one could take them away from them because we are all Americans. Just like the Native American Indians, the raciest population thought they were savages and dirty. Even the Spanish invited one of the Native American tribes to sign a treaty, and then the Spanish killed them the next morning. The Indians did nothing to them and they just killed them for their goods and gold.

Do you think you could fight off the Nazi army, I think not. The Nazis killed 6 million Jews. If you think that you could fight off the Nazi army you would probably stand no chance. There were so many people that died during the Nazi’s attack on the Jews. I think that this was one of the most messed up times in history. Oadalf Hitler was the man in charge of all of the Nazi terror and the deaths of 6 million Jews. The Nazi army was tricked into killing all of the Jews. If one of the Nazi soldiers said they didn’t want to they would be killed probably by Hitler himself. There were many things that Hitler did that no man or woman should do to another person in any form or way. Hitler did many sick and brutal things that affected thousands of lives. When Hitler killed the 6 million Jews; it affected many of people’s lives.

The difference between racism, prejudice, and discrimination is racism means a belief or doctrine that inheret differences among the various human races. Prejudice means an unfavorable opinion or feeling formed before hand. Discrimination means a power of making fine distinctions. An example is when people are being bullied by other people. We see, hear, and feel these feelings all the time. We also see these feelings on the internet. Texts and jokes can be offensive to many people even if you really are joking around. These are definitions and how we use Racism, Prejudice, and Discrimination.

Racism, Prejudice, and Discrimination these three words are very close in definition; however they're they are different. Racism is a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others. Prejudice is an unfavorable opinion or feeling formed beforehand or without knowledge, thought, or reason. Discrimination is. Treatment or consideration of, or making a distinction in favor of or against, a person or thing based on the group, class, or category to which that person or thing belongs rather than on individual merit: racial and religious intolerance and discrimination. These definitions are easy to get mixed up. Although they are close in definition they are different. These three words are all words that can be used to describe lives of the Jewish.

Prejudice, rasicm, and discrimination have very similiar meanings, however, they each explain things differently. To be prejudice is to be nonexeptable someones race or gender. Racism is to be prejudice against one certain race or many at one time.Discrimination is when someone acts out on a prejudice. Not allowing a certain race to drink out of a certain water fountian is discrimination. So discrimination is when you do something to avoid the resources or items the other race has. In my opinion i disapprove of these things people do i don't think it is right it is very unfair. Prejudice,Racism, and discrimination are usually used in history in the time of the Holocaust because Hitler wasnt very cruel to Jews people say.

Racism, discrimination, and prejudice all have negative consequences, however they are different in meaning. Racism-the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races (Google Dictionary). Discrimination-The unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people or things, esp. on the grounds of race, age, or gender (Google Dictionary). Prejudice-an unfavorable opinion or feeling formed before hand or without knowledge, thought, or reason (Dictionary.com). An example that I can cite, not being the Holocaust, was during the time of enslavement when whites believed that blacks should be treated differently because of their skin color. My quote is "Laundry is the only thing that should be seperated by colors" ~Author Unknown. This quote really spoke to me because as a famous poet said "Everybody is different, and differences are okay.... You accept others the way they are, the way they want to be, the way they believe they should be" ~Ashley Snell. The sentence I used was the 'However' sentence.

Is there really any difference between the three? Since I am biracial, I know I will see all three in my life. My dad who is black has experienced all three. He experiences racism even today. When he goes to some stores he gets followed, even though he is a police officer. People in the store were prejudiced, because they thought since he is black he will steal. He says discrimination against him has gotten better because laws that don't allow it. All three are bad in their own way. The Jews faced all three, just like my dad. So things haven't changed much since then.

Racism, discrimination and prejudice are three problems we deal with in society. The difference between racism, discrimination and prejudice can be really hard to explain. Racism is when you hate someone because they belong to a different race. Discrimination is when people treat people better or worse than other people because of who they are.Prejudice is when people judge you by the way you look or by the group you belong to. These three things are all harmful. It is better to get to know someone and treat them how they deserve. An example of discrimination would be not letting gay people serve in the military. Most of these problems happen when people don’t try to understand each other.

There are many ways to describe the difference of discrimination, racism, and prejudice however, this is just one way to see the difference in discrimination, racism, and prejudice. Prejudice is unreasonable feelings and religion and without knowledge. Racism is when you judge people by their skin and treated them bad for their colored skin. Finally, discrimination, discrimination is like how you judge people by what religion or group and other stuff. A time where I heard about all these words were during before Martin Luther King Jr. and especially racism. There are other times where all these words would be in in history. Many Jews were killed because of their religion. These three words were also very important in the Holocaust. These are some of the ways all these words are alike and used in history.

The words predjudice, racism, and discrimination may seem like very different words; however, they can be quite the same. the reason I say "can" is because using the words in a sertain way will make the definitions similar. racism is when you have a hatred for another race or belife that somebody else has. Racism doesnt always have to involve race, it can also involve religion. Discrimination is the act or instance of being picky. This also does not have to involve race, it can involve being picky tword anything. Predjudice means an unfavorable opinion or feeling formed beforhand without any backround knowlege, thought or reason. This also doesnt have to involve race. An example of all these words would be: Racism- The man was very racist tword the woman for being Jewish. Descrimination- The woman would not date anybody that was not Christian. Predjudice- A new kid walked into class and "Little Johnny" hated her because of the way she dressed.

First, I have a question. Tomorrow on January 28,is our 1st draft due? The difference between racism, discrimination, and prejudice is that prejudice is the overall idea of not accepting people for who they are. This can include not appreciating another race for what they do or what they are. Discrimination is when someone actually acts out on a prejudice. Not allowing sombody do do something like ride a bike is an example. Racism is prejudice against a race. An example is that African-Americans are still treated in America and other countries today. Franklin Thomas once said " One day our descendants will think it incredible that we paid so much attention to things like the amount of melanin in our skin or the shape of our eyes or our gender instead of the unique identities of each of us as complex human beings." ~Franklin Thomas

Racism, discrimination, and prejudice may sound very different things but are they? Racism is when you hate someone because of their race. Discrimination is the act of being picky. Lastly, prejudice is a feeling or opinion of someone before knowing them. An example of racism is when someone says "Oh look he is Jewish he must be horrible" One example of discrimination is when someone says " you touched that, I don't want that now. An example of prejudice is when you hate someone but you have no clue who they are. that is the difference between racism, discrimination and prejudice.

Although the words prejudge, discrimination, and racism seem simialr, they are very different. Prejudging is to judge some one before knowing about that someone. Discrimination is to favor or dislike someone because of their race or belief or sex. Racism is to think that one race is better than the other. Prejudge is simiar from discrimination because if you prejudge, you may still learn to like this someone and just have judged them when in discrimination, you have still judged them and might learnt to like them but with disrimination, you have specifically judged something about them. The words Prejudge and racism are alike because they both involve thinking something of someone without knowing them and the words are different because with racism, you are saying you are better than this person. This is also the difference between discrimnation and racism. As Abraham J. Heschel once said, "Racism is man's gravest threat to man - the maximum of hatred for a minimum of reason.”
